NFL’s Hall Of Fame in Ohio: A Place To Remember

Every young athlete in the world wants to be remembered once retired, but just a handful of them are ever able to make it to the National Football League, let alone stand out from the rest of the pack.

But those who have managed to shine and make a difference in the gridiron, have been properly rewarded by being inducted into the Hall of Fame.Canton, Ohio, is considered to be the world’s football mecca, as it holds the NFL’s Hall Of Fame, a museum that every single sports fan in the world must visit at least once in their life. Located in 2121 George Halas Dr. NW, this Pro Football Hall of Fame was built in 1962 following Pete Rozelle’s orders.Back in the day, the building only had around 1765 square meters, but with the passage of time, it’s gotten bigger, taller, and prettier, going through several rebuilds and expansions in 1971, 1978, 1995, 2003, 2008, 2009, and 2011.

Future 50

The latest expansion initiative, called ‘Future 50’, took place from 2011 to 2013, and it cost as much as 27 million dollars. Still, it helped the building reach a huge figure of 10.962 square meters. Now, they’re working on a whole new project called the Hall of Fame Village, which will make it even bigger.

This village will feature the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a stadium, a four-star hotel, the Legends Residential, a multi-discipline sports complex, an excellence center, the Main Street with restaurants and malls, and the NFL Experience with virtual reality games. That way, tourists and football fans from all over the world will continue to visit Canton, Ohio’s best-kept secret. Also, this new Hall of Fame experience will bring the community closer together, as well as generating as much as 15 billion dollars in revenues over the next 15 years.

Moreover, the Pro Football Hall of Fame and its committee host several activities and events to pay their tributes to the glorious athletes that are included every year. Those events usually take place during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival, where people can enjoy concerts, music festivals, dinners with professional football players, parades, autograph signing sessions, and various sporting events.

Once a player is inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, he’s given three peculiar items to make it official: a bronze bust, a golden jacket, and an excellence ring. Even so, the committee included the fourth item lately: a gold medal for its grave that’s handed to the players’ widow once he passes away, which reads: “Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, Ohio, Forever”. Regardless of how much football and its rules have changed since this glorious building was built way back in 1963, the memories, passion, and history of this game hasn’t changed a single bit, and every single player in the world dreams of wearing that golden jacket and having his bronze bust lying forever in the streets of Canton.
